1.1 League Settings

Rules are open for discussion prior to the season kick-off and will apply for the entirety of the season. Any changes to the rules mid-season requires a majority vote >60%. This document will be amended to reflect the rules and any changes.
1.2 Fees
There is only 1 fee and every coach needs to pay. It's $190.
- $100 goes towards the fantasy winners (winner gets $1000, 2nd place gets $200)
- $50 to the tipping (80% 1st, 20% 2nd)

2.1 Overview
A clear set of rules and repercussions. The following charter describes these in each scenario.
2.2 Etiquette
Etiquette schmettiquette. We're playing for bragging rights and anything goes.
The Commissioner must create rules in the best interest of the league.
2.3 The Rules
The Commissioner will create the rules and announce the rules, including any rule changes. The Rules can be found in the settings section on the Keeper website. Review them and learn.
2.3.1 Loopholes
If everyone has the opportunity to exploit a loophole then it's fair game.
If a Commissioner settings error unfairly favours a particular coach, or contradicts an announcement, then the Commissioner can reverse the action taken.
2.3.2 Payment of Fees
Coaches subs are due before the first bounce in Round 3.
- Failure to pay the full amount on time will result in your captain's or 2 highest performing players scores to be nullified. This will occur each week until you pay.
2.3.3 Tanking
There's a fine line between neglect, bad coaching and tanking and it can be hard to distinguish. If the commissioner deems there is deliberate tanking to improve your position, your draft order, or hamper another team's ladder standing, sanctions will apply. However, no score adjustment will be made to the outcome of the match.
- Sanctions involve the coach receiving automatic wooden spoon punishment. This is not an exemption for the coach that actually gets the wooden spoon — it just means there will be two coaches partaking.
2.3.4 Player Dumping — The Ultimate Dummy Spit
The most criminal of Fantasy Footy acts is the "Dumping" of players without merit. E.g. Dropping entire list; dropping high-value players after elimination or a classic dummy spit is not on. If a coach performs this, it signals their retirement from the competition and the players are off-limits for free agent collection.
- Sanctions involves immediate removal of the coach from the Ballers chat group, and discussions will take place about the players, replacement coach, or the coach's future involvement in the league.
2.3.5 Player Loans and the 5 Round Rule
Player loans are not allowed.
- A player loan is determined when any player of a trade ends up back at their original club before the completion of 5 AFL rounds. This includes 2-way trades or more convoluted and intricate trades that may involve multiple players and coaches.
- Punishment will be the deduction of those players' scores (any player involved in the trades) for those rounds in which they were traded.
Season Draft
Starts early February.
- The draft will occur in linear format. The order of the draft will be determined by the "race/event" selected by the consolation finals winner.
- The draft will be a slow draft.
- The draft will finish at least 1 week before the AFL season begins.
Keepers
- Teams are to select 16 keepers to carry into the next season.
- Trading keepers for draft picks and live trading during the draft.
- Trading players for draft picks and future draft picks has been enabled for 3 years in advance.
Bye Rounds
Start of season AFL Bye Rounds:
- Captains will be enabled.
Midseason AFL Bye Rounds:
- Captains and vice captains will be enabled.
- Fully open Restaurant — all you can eat. FAAB will be disabled.
- Rolling Lockout.
Free Agents
- Free Agents are open slather.
- RFA are subject to Free-Agent Acquisition Budgets (FAAB).
- Refer to Settings > Waiver Settings > Transactions.
Wooden Spoon Challenge
Loser of the consolation finals receives the wooden spoon and does the punishment. Punishment is selected by the minor premier.
- The challenge can not present any form of reputational risk.
- The challenge can not cost more than $80 AUD at the expense of the wooden spooner.
Draft Order
The draft order will be divvied up into groups. The top 6 will remain reverse ladder order (positions 1–6 will have draft picks 12–7 respectively).
The bottom 6 teams fight out the draft order by competing in a race/event. The race/event is selected by the consolation finals winner. It can be any event with at least 6 participants and a clear order of outcome.
Each coach chooses their horse/entry in the race, starting with the wooden spooner and working up the ladder until each coach has a selection. Where your selection finishes in the race determines your spot in the draft.
